Spiral (or power) springs are made from flat strips of metal wound into spirals. Force applied to the outer ring causes the spring to tighten and store energy. In use, this energy is gradually released by the spring driving the target mechanism. Daily applications are seen as brush spring in motors, driving children’s toys, retracting seat belts in cars and retracting power cords of home appliances.
